The Story
I’ve just touched down from São Paulo and honestly, the vibe was absolutely electric. It’s giving major concrete jungle energy but with a cheeky tropical twist that I wasn’t expecting at all. The city is massive, like properly huge, and the atmosphere in places like Santa Cecília is just so cool with all the jazz bars and drag shows—I was living my best life.
I spent my days properly exploring, starting with the Catedral da Sé which is this gorgeous neo-Gothic building with massive green spires that look so aesthetic against the palm trees. I did a bit of a culture crawl through the Pinacoteca and MASP, then headed over to the Municipal Market to try the legendary mortadela sandwich—it was literally the size of my head and so tasty. I even squeezed in a trip to the Museu do Futebol because, well, when in Brazil, right? The history there is actually quite fascinating even if you aren't a massive fan.
Overall, the trip was surprisingly budget-friendly because I used rideshares to get everywhere for basically pennies. It was the perfect artsy city break for anyone who loves a bit of grit mixed with high-end culture and amazing food.
